Permanent Structures

When an owner has made the decision to erect a permanent structure around an existing in-ground pool, he or she, in effect, creates an indoor pool.  As with retractable enclosures, there are several styles to meet needs and desires, and owners may also elect to design their own structure.  Since it will now be part of the main living quarters, the options are not as numerous, however.  The choices are often matched to the same material as the house, such as a wooden pool building or a brick extension. The material colors also depend on the existing decor, and size will definitely impact the price.  There is much more to consider, such as electricity, plumbing, lighting, flooring, and security measures, but most professional builders/pool suppliers are very helpful in providing information.  Some customers may need to involve an architect, and when knocking down an outside wall, a structural engineer and quantity surveyor could also be required.  In addition, the owner might need to obtain planning permission and conform to building regulations and compliances.  Neighbors might need to agree to any structure that could restrict their light or views, and could be called upon for access involving their property during construction.
